Spazig's NoTimeToExplain.(W.I.P)
This is the project I'm currently working on, the most ambitious one so far, applying everything I've learned from my previous 2 games. It will be a mix between a tower defense and a beat'em up.
This is a very early version of the game, but it allows you to get a glimpse of the chaotic gameplay that is expected to be achieved in the final game.
The idea of the game is to collect gold or resources to improve your character. To obtain gold, you must overcome each level, which will be divided into 2 stages:
Day stage: You must prevent enemies from stealing your gold (whatever gold they manage to save will be your reward, and you can use it for upgrades). In this stage, enemies are not aggressive unless provoked.
Night stage: All the enemies you defeated during the day come back to life as zombies to attack you. In this stage, enemies go straight for you and no longer attempt to steal your gold.
Another important mechanic of the game is the use of the power bar, which functions as both life and power gauge. This bar is replenished by hitting enemies, but if the bar is completely empty, you lose the game. Actions like using a special ability or upgrading a turret consume the power bar. Therefore, the player must decide when to spend their power to avoid becoming vulnerable.
The game will feature a wide variety of upgrades for the player, such as:
- Leveling up and unlocking a corresponding ability for each level (1 to 10).
- Unlocking turrets (or robots) that will assist you in battles.
- Unlocking upgrades for each turret.
- Player life improvements.
- Speeding up the power bar recharge.
- Increasing the amount of gold per level.
- And more.
As you can see, the game has a ton of references of all kinds, which, in turn, require a large number of sprites. So far, I have approximately +400 sprites, but to implement everything I have in mind, it will possibly reach +1000, considering more types of enemies, scenes, abilities, etc.
